DAY 1: CUSCO ANDES – ALBERGUE, BOSQUE DE NUBES
This exciting trip from Cusco will take you through diverse landscapes and ecosystems on your way to the Amazon jungle. Here is a summary of your first day of adventure:
🌄 Day 1: From Cusco to the Amazon Jungle 🌳
– Early departure from Cusco.
– Visit to the pre-Inca tombs of Ninamarca.
– Exploration of the colonial town of Paucartambo, known for its folklore.
– Arrival in Acjanacu, gateway to the Manu Biosphere, where you can see the Amazon.
– Descent through different ecological floors, from the puna to the cloud forest.
– Possibility of spotting endemic flora and fauna, such as tree ferns, orchids, butterflies, monkeys, birds, toucans and tanagers.
– Visit to the habitat of the Cock of the Rock, the national bird of Peru.
– Search for sightings of the spectacled bear, unique in South America.
– Night in a comfortable and typical lodge in the jungle. (Lunch and Dinner included).

DAY 2: BOSQUE DE NUBES – BOSQUE LLUVIOSO PUERTO DE ATALAYA – ALBERGUE
Before breakfast we will walk in search of endemic birds of the Cloud Forest such as quetzals, cotingas, tanagers, toucans, woodpeckers, manakins, hawks, oropendolas as well as the woolly monkey, capuchin, insects and more. After a comforting breakfast, we have a 3-hour trip to Atalaya (500 meters above sea level) where we will board our motorized boat and sail to the lodge (40 minutes downriver) located on the banks of the Alto Madre de Dios River. Here, we will spend the day exploring the surroundings, interesting paths and ecosystems, we will visit a small lake where we will have the possibility of seeing the prehistoric Hoatzin, some Alligators, Capybaras, squirrel monkeys and different species of birds. After dinner, we will listen to sounds of the Amazon such as the night monkey (Aotus trivirgatus), the Kalinowski rat, frogs, Potoos and the pygmy owl among many other nocturnal inhabitants during a night walk. DAY 03: ALBERGUE – AGUAS CALIENTES – COMUNIDAD MATSHIGUENKA
Your third day of adventure in the Amazon jungle promises to be exciting. Here is the summary:
🌅 Day 3: Parrot Clay Lick, Native Community and Night in the Jungle 🦜
– Early navigation along the river for 15 minutes to reach the Parrot Clay Clay, a wall rich in mineral salts where different species of parrots and parakeets gather, offering a colorful and noisy spectacle.
– Breakfast with views of this incredible natural spectacle.
– Continuation of the trip downriver to the native community of Shipetiary, inhabited by the Matshiguenka tribe.
– During the journey, you will have the opportunity to spot birds and mammals on the banks of the river.
– Enjoy a relaxing bath in hot springs.
– Afternoon dedicated to exploring the community and participating in its cultural activities.
– At night, night walking adventure to observe nocturnal birds and listen to the sounds of the jungle.
– You will spend the night on platforms in the middle of the jungle. (Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner included).

DAY 04: COMUNIDAD MATSHIGUENKA – POBLADO DE PILCOPATA, ALBERGUE
On the fourth day, after a morning walk, our boat will take us back to Puerto de Atalaya where our bus is waiting to take us to our lodge in Pilcopata where we spend our last night in the jungle. (D, A, C)
DAY 05: POBLADO DE PILCOPATA – CUSCO
After breakfast, our vehicle will bring us back to Cusco, arriving at approximately 6pm. (B,A) After making the visit, we will return along the same path down to our mobility, then we will head towards the Layo district where a delicious local lunch will be waiting for us. Finally we will return to the city of Cusco, arriving at approximately 6:30 p.m.
