The following day, you’ll ascend early to Machu Picchu to explore its temples, terraces, and viewpoints, accompanied by a professional guide. Itinerary
Day 1: Cusco – Hydroelectric Plant – Aguas Calientes
📍 Pick-up and departure from Cusco
We begin our journey to the Sacred Valley, heading towards the hydroelectric plant. Along the way, we’ll traverse Andean landscapes, pass natural viewpoints, and experience spectacular changes in climate.
📍 Panoramic route through the Sacred Valley and the cloud forest
We’ll travel through high-altitude areas with breathtaking views of the snow-capped peaks, then descend into the cloud forest. This landscape combines mountains, rivers, and forests that line the path to Machu Picchu.
📍 Lunch at Santa Teresa
Before continuing, we will enjoy lunch in the Santa Teresa area, a warm and verdant spot ideal for a short break.
📍 Arrival at the hydroelectric plant and hike towards Aguas Calientes
At Hidroeléctrica, we’ll begin a hike of approximately 2.5 to 3 hours following the railway line. Along the way, you’ll be able to appreciate the rainforest, the Urubamba River, and views of the surrounding mountains.
📍 Arrival and check-in in Aguas Calientes
Upon arrival in town, we will check in to your assigned accommodation. You will have free time to explore the town, visit the artisan streets, or relax in the hot springs (optional).
Day 2: Machu Picchu – Hydroelectric Plant – Cusco
📍 Early ascent to Machu Picchu
We will go up by bus (optional) or walking towards the main entrance of Machu Picchu to enjoy the sunrise over the citadel.
📍 Guided tour of the Inca Citadel
We will take a guided tour of approximately 2 to 2.5 hours through the most important areas: temples, squares, terraces and viewpoints from where you will have spectacular photographs.
📍 Free time to explore or take an extra walk
ou can explore on your own or take optional hikes such as Inca Bridge or Inti Punku (Sun Gate). If you purchased tickets in advance, you can also climb Machu Picchu Mountain.
📍 Descent to Aguas Calientes and lunch on your own
We will return to the village, where you will have time for lunch or shopping before returning to Hidroeléctrica.
📍 Hike back to the hydroelectric plant
We will walk again through the jungle following the railway route until we reach the parking lot, where our transport awaits us.
📍 Return to Cusco by tourist transport
We will begin our return journey, passing through Santa Teresa and the Sacred Valley. Approximate arrival in Cusco in the evening.
