Itinerary
Day 1 ITINERARY OF THE CITY TOUR OF COLONIAL AND MODERN LIMA - HALF DAY
We’ll begin our adventure on the Colonial and Modern Lima City Tour in the vibrant and captivating Miraflores, the modern heart of Lima. Our first stop takes us to Parque del Amor (Love Park), a romantic spot by the sea, where Víctor Delfín’s sculpture “El Beso” (The Kiss) celebrates love in all its splendor. Multicolored mosaics, decorated with phrases in Spanish and Quechua, envelop the park in a magical atmosphere, perfect for capturing memories and gazing out at the Pacific Ocean.
We’ll continue with a panoramic view of the majestic Huaca Pucllana, an ancient pre-Hispanic ceremonial center built by pre-Incan cultures and venerated as sacred by the Incas. From here, you’ll witness the fascinating contrast between contemporary Lima and its ancient heritage, coexisting in perfect harmony.
Afterwards, we’ll delve into the Historic Center of Lima, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, to explore its plazas, streets, and colonial churches on foot. Here, authentic architectural gems await us, such as:
- San Martín Square, symbol of Peruvian independence.
- The Plaza Mayor, the heart of the city.
- The Government Palace is the official residence of the president.
- The Archbishop’s Palace and the Cathedral of Lima, with its imposing Renaissance facade.
- The Municipal Palace, an example of republican architecture.
In every corner, the stones and facades whisper tales of Lima’s viceregal and republican grandeur. To culminate this cultural journey, the San Francisco Convent Museum awaits, a jewel of colonial religious art in Latin America. Its rooms, steeped in history, invite us to discover secrets of the past: the Choir Room and the old Library, with thousands of colonial books; the sacristy, adorned with canvases from the Cusco School. And finally, the famous Catacombs lead us through underground passageways that served as a cemetery until the 19th century, offering a unique perspective on Lima’s past.
This Lima City Tour blends modernity, history, and tradition to give you an unforgettable experience that reveals the cultural soul of the Peruvian capital.
