Itinerary

Day 1: Cusco – Santa María: 53-kilometer cycling (Optional canoeing: 100 soles from
April to November)

This tour begins with a pick-up from your hotel. You’ll then enjoy a 1.5-hour bus ride across the spectacular Chinchero plateau and through the Sacred Valley to Ollantaytambo. There, you’ll stop at a small local restaurant where you can refresh yourself, grab a quick meal or snack, and pick up anything you might have forgotten to buy in Cusco. Afterward, you’ll return to the bus for a 1.5-hour ride to Abra Málaga, located at 4,350 meters above sea level. All the necessary equipment (bicycle, gloves, elbow pads, knee pads, and helmet) will be provided, followed by a briefing from your experienced guide. Then, you’ll embark on a fun downhill ride to Santa María. Along the way, you’ll experience diverse landscapes, panoramic views, and microclimates. You’ll arrive in the town of Santa María for lunch. After lunch, you’ll have the afternoon free to relax or explore the town. An optional rafting excursion (100 soles) is available. This will take you to the Quillabamba River for approximately 2 hours (25 km) and includes Class 2 and Class 3 rapids. In the evening you will have dinner and spend the night in Santa María.

They will start at 6:00 am with an energizing breakfast. After this, they will go to the zipline camp to enjoy this activity for approximately 3 hours over the forest. There are 6 different cables; the goal of one is to learn to control themselves on the cable, at their own speed, and then become an expert at doing Superman, upside down, and they can also enjoy hammocks.

The climate becomes even more tropical as you approach the old town. A short drive from Santa Teresa takes you to Lucmabamba, where you’ll join a local family. Afterward, you’ll embark on a two-and-a-half-hour coffee tour near your campsite. Locals will demonstrate the entire coffee-making process, allowing you to participate and even pick your own coffee beans. Depending on the season, various activities will be available to enjoy with the people of this small village.

Para terminar este día tendrán su cena.

In the morning you will have two options to go up to Machu Picchu; take a walk of approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes or take the bus for approximately 30 minutes.

Once you arrive, the guide will take you around the Citadel of Machu Picchu for two hours, providing information and enriching your knowledge of Inca history. There is a lot of information that our guide will share with you.

If you want to climb Huayna Picchu, a very popular hike with spectacular views, we recommend booking three months in advance. (There’s a daily limit of 400 visitors, so if you don’t want to miss out, there’s an extra cost of $65.) The round-trip hike to the top of Huayna Picchu takes about an hour and a half. It’s definitely worth it for the breathtaking views from the summit! Another option is to climb Machu Picchu Mountain. This is a newer option that allows you to see the Machu Picchu Citadel from the highest peak. It’s less crowded, so you don’t need to book in advance. (There’s an extra cost of $65.)

You will need to get down to Aguas Calientes in time to catch the train back to Ollantaytambo, approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes. Then you must leave the train station to catch the bus back to Cusco, approximately 1 hour and a half to reach the city.
