Itinerary
DAY 1: CUSCO – TINQUI – UPIS
Your first day trekking to Ausangate sounds exciting:
– Early departure from Cusco to Tinqui (3800 meters/12,464 feet) by private transport.
– Enjoy a scenic three-hour journey along the Interoceanic Highway.
– Passage through beautiful landscapes and traditional villages such as Urcos, Cattca and Ocangate.

– Approximately 3-hour trek with magnificent views of the Vilcanota and Ausangate mountain ranges.
– Arrival at the hot springs in Upis (4,400 meters/14,432 feet) to spend the night and enjoy the breathtaking views of Ausangate at the end of the valley.

DAY 2: UPIS – LAGUNA AUSANGATE Q’OCHA
The second day of your trek to Ausangate promises to be spectacular:

– Then, you will continue for 3 and a half hours descending through the valley, passing by the green lagoon of Puqa Q’ocha until you reach the turquoise waters of the Jatun Puqa Q’ocha lagoon.
– Next, you’ll ascend the second Apuchata pass, which sits at an altitude of 4,900 meters (16,072 feet). From here, you’ll enjoy breathtaking views of Ausangate Q’ocha Lagoon and its turquoise waters. This lagoon is fed by snowmelt from the Ausangate mountain.
– Finally, you will camp here in Ausangate Q’ocha to spend the second night.

DAY 3: LAGUNA AUSANGATE Q’OCHA – QAMPA
Tu tercer día en el trekking a Ausangate es una emocionante ascensión y exploración:
– From the Ausangate Q’ocha lagoon, you will ascend towards the Palomani pass, which is at an impressive altitude of 5,200 meters (17,056 feet) and is the highest point of your trek.
– From the pass, you will follow the path towards the valley, where you can rest and enjoy lunch.
– In the afternoon, you will enjoy panoramic views of the snow-capped peaks of Tres Picos and Punta Puca.
– Then, you will continue through the wide green valley of Pampa Jutunpata and ascend through the Q’ampa River valley.
– Finally, you will spend the third night in this beautiful area.
This day will take you through some of the most breathtaking and highest landscapes of your trek. Keep enjoying the natural beauty that surrounds you!
DAY 4: Q’AMPA – PACCHANTA
The fourth day of your Ausangate trek will take you through a varied landscape and a relaxing experience:
– After passing through the small community of Q’ampa, you will head northwest to the last pass of this hike, the Q’ampa pass, which is located at an altitude of 5,000 meters (16,400 feet).
– Along the way, you will see several lagoons of different colors and enjoy lunch next to Q’oma Q’ocha.
– You will continue walking for several hours before reaching the small town of Pacchanta.
– Here, you’ll have the opportunity to soak in the hot springs for a couple of hours and enjoy a
well-deserved beer.
– You’ll set up camp near Pacchanta and have the afternoon free to explore this interesting Andean village. You also have the option of staying in a basic hostel tonight.
This day combines the adventure of hiking with a well-deserved rest in the hot springs and exploration of the charming village of Pacchanta. Enjoy this varied experience!
DAY 5: PACCHANTA – CUSCO
Your fifth and final day on the Ausangate trek sounds like this:
– You will walk for approximately 3 hours back to Tinqui, enjoying the scenery as you approach this traditional Andean village.
– Once in Tinqui, you’ll have time to explore and learn more about life in this charming place.
– Then, you will take your transport back to Cusco, with an estimated arrival time around 6:00 PM.
