General Description
This 7-day, 6-night tour will take you from Lima to Cusco and finally to Machu Picchu. You’ll experience Peru’s history, culture, and natural beauty as you visit iconic sites and learn about the ancient Inca civilization.
Itinerary
DAY 01: LIMA – CITY OF KINGS
Arrival in Lima. Airport pickup and transfer to the hotel. Free afternoon
DAY 02: COLONIAL AND MODERN LIMA
– Hotel pick-up to begin the Lima city tour
– Visit to the financial district
– Explore the Olive Grove
– Visit the Huaca Pucllana archaeological site
– Explore Lima, the City of Kings
– Visit Plaza San Martín
– Explore the balconies and historic houses
– Visit Plaza Mayor and its most important buildings, such as the Government Palace, the Cathedral of Lima, and the Archbishop’s Palace, among others
– Entrance to one of the most important 17th-century monasteries and the underground crypts known as the catacombs
– Tour duration: Approximately 3 hours and 30 minutes
– Free time for lunch (not included)
– In the afternoon, visit the Magic Water Circuit, featuring ornamental fountains with powerful water jets set to classical music
– In the evening, enjoy a tasting of the best Peruvian cuisine with a traditional dance performance
– Transfer back to the hotel and overnight stay
DAY 03: LIMA – CUSCO – TRASLADO IN – CITY TOUR.
– Transfer from your hotel in Lima to Jorge Chávez Airport
– Pick-up in Cusco and transfer to your hotel
– 1:30 PM – Start of the city tour, where we will visit:
– Temple of the Sun (Koricancha)
– Sacsayhuamán Archaeological Park
– Qenqo
– Pucapucara
– Tambomachay
– Approximate duration of the city tour: 4 hours and 30 minutes
DAY 04: SACRED VALLEY OF THE INCAS – MACHUPICCHU
– 8:30 am – Start of the Sacred Valley of the Incas tour.
– This tour includes:
– The traditional market of Pisaq
– The Pisaq Archaeological Park
– The town of Urubamba, where you will have free time for lunch (not included)
– The Ollantaytambo archaeological complex
– Afterward, we will board the train to Aguas Calientes (Machu Picchu)
– Arrival in Aguas Calientes
– Overnight stay
DAY 05: MACHUPICCHU
– 07:00 am – Bus bound for the Inca citadel of Machu Picchu.
– 07:30 am – 2-hour guided tour of the Machu Picchu Archaeological Park.
– 09:30 am – Free time to visit and take photos at the places of greatest interest to passengers.
– 16:00 pm – We will take the bus from the Inca citadel of Machu Picchu to Aguas Calientes. Free time in the town of Aguas Calientes to buy handicrafts and explore the town.
– 18:30 pm – Tourist train to the town of Ollantaytambo, where a person will be waiting to take us to the city of Cusco.
– 22:00 pm – Arrival in the city of Cusco.
DAY 06: MARAS – MORAY.
– 08:30 am – Start of the tour.
– This tour visits the salt pans with 3,000 small pools, each with an average area of about 5 m². During the dry season, they are “irrigated” every 3 days with salt water that flows from a natural spring located at the top of the pools so that, as the water evaporates, the salt it contains solidifies.
–Afterwards, we visited the Moray archaeological complex; it consists of gigantic natural holes that were used to build agricultural terraces with their respective irrigation canals around their contours.
– 14:30 pm – Arrival in the city of Cusco.
– Free afternoon.
DAY 07: TRANSFER OUT
At a suitable time, transfer to the airport.
