Explore the best of the Sacred Valley before experiencing the magic of Machu Picchu on a two-day tour filled with culture and history. You’ll visit the impressive archaeological sites of Pisac and Ollantaytambo, as well as enjoy their markets and unique Andean landscapes. In the afternoon, you’ll board the train to Aguas Calientes, where you’ll spend the night in a peaceful setting. The next day, you’ll ascend early to the citadel of Machu Picchu to explore its temples, terraces, and viewpoints with an expert guide. A complete experience that combines the charm of the valley with the wonder of the world.
Itinerary.
Día 1: Cusco – Chinchero – Moray – Maras – Ollantaytambo – Aguas Calientes
📍 Hotel pick-up and departure for Chinchero
We will head to this charming Andean town to explore its famous agricultural terraces and visit workshops where ancestral traditional weaving techniques are still preserved.
📍 Visit to Moray
We will explore this fascinating Inca agricultural laboratory, made up of circular terraces that allowed the creation of different microclimates for experimenting with crops.
📍 Tour of the Maras Salt Mines
We will visit the more than 4,000 salt ponds that have been active since Inca times. Their impressive white, terraced landscape is one of the most photogenic settings in the Sacred Valley.
📍Stop in Urubamba – Buffet Lunch
We will enjoy a varied Andean buffet surrounded by a beautiful landscape, ideal to recharge our energy before continuing the tour.
📍 Ollantaytambo Archaeological Site
We will explore this imposing Inca stone fortress, strategically located and renowned for its temples, terraces, and amazing engineering.
📍 Train journey to Aguas Calientes
We will board the train from Ollantaytambo station to Aguas Calientes, where you will meet your guide to coordinate all the details of your visit to Machu Picchu the following day.
Día 2: Aguas Calientes – Machu Picchu – Cusco
📍 Bus ride up to the Citadel of Machu Picchu
We will take a bus up to the entrance gate to begin a guided tour of approximately 2.5 hours, discovering the history, architecture and mysteries of this wonder of the world.
📍 Tour of the main sectors of the sanctuary
We will explore temples, ceremonial terraces, plazas and emblematic viewpoints, enjoying unique panoramic views of the Inca city.
📍 Free time in Machu Picchu
You can explore on your own, take photographs, or, if you have a prior reservation, climb Waynapicchu or Machu Picchu Mountain for even more impressive views.
📍 Return to Aguas Calientes
We will descend by bus to the town for you to enjoy a free lunch and then we will board the train back to the Ollantaytambo station.
📍 Final transfer to Cusco
Upon arrival in Ollantaytambo, we will take the tourist transport that will take you back to Cusco, ending the day with an approximate arrival at 6:30 p.m.
